(UKONČENÉ) Exhibition of Karen LaMonte: Program

Pursuing the secret of dresses and mirrors

Who was the dress designed for? What was the appearance of the addressee? How would it suit me? Who do the portraits in the mirrors belong to? Can I see my reflection in the mirror through an artistic portrait? And what is a monotype?

The secrets hidden in the glass dresses by the American artist and sculptor Karen LaMonte will be revealed during the commented tour of her works. At the exhibition, you will also know the mirrors that may reflect different portraits of models she used to create her dresses. Or are there reminiscences recorded in there? The exhibition arouses plenty of questions that will all be answered during the tour or the art reflection in the studio.

Within the final workshop, the pupils or students will have the opportunity to study one of the subjects offered:

  • Put on the dress: Creative workshop with the photographs of dresses, completed by the portraits of workshop participants
  • Detail of a dress as a piece of art: Creation of a picture based on the detail of the dress using the method of fusing (baking together plastic films)
  • Is the mirror mirrored?: Creation of a little mirror based on one’s own design, creating a lasting portrait on the mirroring part
  • Getting to know the technique of monotype, the print of structures from above
